There is, I think, a fundamental misunderstanding about what is going on here and this is not helped by press articles that incorrectly state the position. auDA has formally applied to IANA to re-delegate .au. This is the first step in a formal process which involves Robert Elz. It is NOT an attempt to 'go around' him or exclude him or force the re-delegation. He received copies of all documents and was asked for input and his opinion. He has chosen so far not to respond and that is his prerogative. ICANN will be contacting him as part of the process. auDA will be posting copies of all the documents on the web site in the next few days and a formal media release will be sent out as soon as possible. Robert Elz has been involved at all stages of auDA's development. He has been asked to participate in the Panels. auDA has attempted to deal with all his requests and to act on all his input. In respect to .org.au, auDA is receiving an average of 5 queries a day from people who are dissatisfied with the .org.au service. We tell everyone the same thing and have now placed that explanation on the site. I'm sorry of this is perceived as a personal attack on Robert Elz. It is not and is not intended to be. It is merely a statement of fact. I hope this clarifies the situation. I will be happy to answer any queries posted to the list or sent to me directly.
