Hello all, time to stop lurking and put in a few comments in here.

If I can borrow a link from Joshua 
http://www.whatsinaname.com.au/renewals/wING01a.jpg then ING at $220 for 
two years overcharge by approximately $80 on the RETAIL cost (the wholesale 
cost being somewhat lower) of performing a DNS renewal. Not the hardest 
task in the world, in fact I scripted the task into a single click on a web 
page.

Sasha, are you telling me the service you provide in renewing domains is 
worth $80 more than what the customer could do themselves by going direct 
to Melbourne IT ?

At my previous position I became heartily sick of dealing with renewal 
notices from ING and my solution at the time was to perform an overhaul of 
our DNS renewal system (scripts+database+php) to enable us to contact our 
customers ahead of ING. Often this entailed contacting them 4-6 months in 
advance of the renewal date on their domain.

As I doubt ING are going stop their unethical business practices anytime 
soon I would suggest people do something similar, it did stop almost all of 
the renewal problems we had at the time with ING.
