Further to recent postings on this subject: Last month auDA released an Interim Code of Practice for domain name industry participants, to address particular issues that are causing concern among industry and consumers alike (eg. renewal notices). auDA has encouraged the industry to voluntarily comply with the Interim Code, and a number of registrars and resellers have indicated that they will do so. See http://www.auda.org.au/transition/ The Interim Code is just that - interim. auDA's intention is that the Interim Code be replaced with a Final Code that addresses all relevant industry issues and has the full consensus support of all stakeholders. The responsibility for developing the Final Code rests with the industry. However, auDA acknowledges that it has a key role to play in facilitating the code development process. To start this process, auDA is holding the first Code of Practice meeting in December. Details are as follows: Date: Tuesday 11 December 2001 Time: 10am-1pm Venue: Maddock Lonie & Chisholm, Level 7, 140 William St, Melbourne. Attendance: The meeting is open to all auDA members and the general public. Purpose: The focus will be on structural and process issues. An agenda will be posted on the auDA website closer to the time. RSVP: Please email me if you plan to attend the meeting, to assist with seating and catering arrangements. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
