ICANN ISSUES PRELIMINARY REPORT ON MEETING ICANN has issued its preliminary report on its meeting in California last week. Of note is that the board discussed the at-large issue with the hope of reaching a conclusion on the matter at the March meeting in Ghana. While the board accepted the ALSC Final Report, as a result of a late drafting change it did not resolve that it would necessarily plan the next election in a manner consistent with it. Interestingly, the board also voted on the composition of an Internationalized Domain Names Committee, excluding WIPO in the process. Details on the IDN vote at <http://www.icannwatch.org/article.php?sid=465> ICANN preliminary report at http://www.icann.org/minutes/prelim-report-15nov01.htm Archives of the meeting at http://cyber.law.harvard.edu/icann/mdr2001/archive/ ANOTHER ICANN UDRP CASE RESULTS IN A SUCKS TRANSFER Coming on the heels of last week's Vivendiuniversalsucks.com decision, another WIPO panelist has ordered the transfer of a sucks domain. Philipssucks.com was ordered transferred after the panelist ruled also ruled that non-English speakers might not be familiar with sucks. Moreover, the panelist argued that companies might want to run their own sucks sites as a means of obtaining feedback on their products. Case name is Burgar v. Spacey (yes, the same Burgar who has been involved in brucespringsteen.com and northernlight.com cases). http://shopping.yahoo.com.au - Yahoo!
