I wish to bring to peoples attention something which was mentioned in someone
elses email en passent, but not very directly.

I think Melbourne IT is trying to force people into going with the Aniversary
on February 1997 because they want EVERYONE to pay THEM before a rival registry
starts up, hence gaining control of ALL existing com.au domains and NOT giving
people the choice of re-registering with the a NEW REGISTRY.

I cant prove this, but M.IT can prove I am wrong by agreeing NOT to do the
registration UNTIL the new registry up and running.

If what Kre says is true and another registry will be allowed soon then
could it be illegal, and against trade practices for M.IT to take almost
ALL possible existing clients for themselves and leaving none and leaving
none for the new registry, hence the new registry not being able to recoup
its costs anywhere near as fast as the 1 million off $$ that M.IT has just got
(based on 10,000 com.au domains). Im probably wrong with the tradepractices
stuff, but it may be in some way.. worth bringing up.

NOTE: as for the posting to mutiple lists, until I am convinced a significant
amount of people are on the DNS list represent the isps' of australia
I will continue to do so. (yes i do check who is on dns every now and
      then)
