You'll find some of the larger ISPs (i.e. Telstra) have their own
procedures for dealing with spam - emailing abuse§isp usually won't
suffice.

As Greg mentioned though, if you follow the ISPs procedure.. you
generally won't have a problem.

Interesting that you find reporting spam to the ISP the most effective
method. 

After having worked for an ISP and having sent out many abuse letters to
other 
ISP's my experience says the complete opposite.

This holds doubly true for anyone "large", ie Telstra, TPG, Optus and so
on.

Thankyou for the suggestion anyway, i'll send a copy to them anyway. Its

always worth trying.
