Why don't you get your host to run greylisting. -----Original Message----- From: Marty Drill - Domain Candy [mailto:marty§domaincandy.com.au] Sent: Thursday, July 21, 2005 12:48 PM To: dns§dotau.org Subject: [DNS] FW: [DNS] FW: [DNS] Whois & Spam Again from Adrian. He is still having trouble sending to the list. -----Original Message----- From: Adrian Kinderis [mailto:adrian§ausregistry.com.au] Sent: Thursday, 21 July 2005 12:42 PM To: marty§domaincandy.com.au Subject: RE: [DNS] FW: [DNS] Whois & Spam Marty, Please forward on again. Buck, Don't have the energy to prove your point... cop out! If it is easy as you say it shouldn't take that much energy. Why don't you send me your list of 10,000 names offline? Perhaps you could come up with ideas, other than "masking the email address", that would solve this "problem"... I'll await your email. On a "serious" note, whois issues are important to the namespace. auDA had to work through these issues when developing their policy. The gTLD community is dealing with them now, and they have many more problems to work through. We are in a much better position due to the amount of thought put into the policy. It may not be perfect, but you have to remember that whois provides a service for those that want to use it legitimately. It serves a purpose. If you want to solve the problem completely, then you would have to get rid of whois completely and go against a convention that has long existed and those that utilise this function. This can be healthy discussion, when done in the appropriate manner. I'm sure auDA is always open to constructive remarks. Throwing mud around and being childish, isn't the best way to get these issues addressed. Last I'll say on the topic. Adrian you are obviously living in a dream world here. I don't have the energy to prove my point by downloading 10,000 emails and posting them to this list as that is not legal, however it is publicly available information. But I am getting p***ed off at having myself and staff see things like "Has your ** ever dribbled and you wish it had shot out" every day. And I do have anti spam systems in place but a start to the solution would be people like you accepting that there is a problem and addressing it.
