Ok... I would like you to CLEARLY explain what constitutes permission. As an ISP and a reseller of several auDA accredited registries, we look after the domains of many of our customers. Most of our customers rely completely on us for all their domain management, including renewal and so on. I have no yet transferred any from one registry to another.. But will be moving 'dozens' soon. Permission, from my perspective, will be an email to all of our customers we host for, telling them we are transferring their domain(s) that we manage for them from one registry to another... And if they disagree, to contact us before the nominated date (14 days). As we have been given the management role of those to look after them, I already consider us to have implicit permission, but I thought that they should be informed and given a 'opt out'. Does auDA see any problems with this? ...Skeeve -----Original Message----- From: Chris Disspain [mailto:ceo§auda.org.au] Sent: Wednesday, 18 June 2003 3:32 PM To: dns§lists.auda.org.au Subject: RE: [DNS] auDA media release Hi Marco, Yes, auDA is telling resellers that they require a registrants consent to move from one registrar to another. There are various reasons for this including the fact that the registrant actually has a contract with the registrar and must abide by their terms and conditions. Because of that a change of registrar has to be at the choice of the registrant nor the reseller. I keep wondering on the choice of resellers which we manage and look after domains for our customers (which we worked hard to obtain), having to take permissions to make thing more cost effective or more managable for them (our clients), to be able to move our domains from one registrar to the other!. Is auDA is basicly telling us as resellers, we have to tell our clients with our choice of registrar (supplier). This system is questionble????!!!!!. ----- Original Message ----- From: Domain Registration Services <mail§domainregistration.com.au> To: <dns§lists.auda.org.au> Sent: Wednesday, June 18, 2003 2:47 PM Subject: RE: [DNS] auDA media release 1600 mistakes ? -----Original Message----- From: Discount Domain Name Services [mailto:rod§ddns.com.au] Sent: Wednesday, 18 June 2003 2:40 PM To: dns§lists.auda.org.au Subject: RE: [DNS] auDA media release let any of you who has not made a mistake cast the first stone. -----Original Message----- From: Jason Pay [mailto:jasonpay§au1.ibm.com] Sent: Wednesday, June 18, 2003 2:34 PM To: dns§lists.auda.org.au Subject: RE: [DNS] auDA media release Two months not being able to transfer domain to itself without jumping through hoops is as good a punishment as any. that said, seen as they are an auDA accredited registrar this should be treated as a first of three strikes.
