Hello Sandra, First look at the Registry WHOIS to confirm the identity of the registrar. ie go to: http://www.verisign-grs.com Use WHOIS. the "Registrar" field gives you the identity of the registrar. then look at the field called: "Whois Server" to get specific information from your current registrar. If you are told that you can't transfer within 30 days of expiry - that is a business practice of your current registrar. In the .com environment a registrar can deny a transfer away for a range of reasons.
