Anthony, I think that if the news article is true, then the idea behind it has good intentions. However, in reality there are a lot of .com.au domain names that are unavailable because they are geographic locations. These include dollar.com.au, as Dollar is a town in Victoria. There are more examples of situations where a company has a name that is close to a town name, or even a surname. The policy should be broadened to allow companies that fulfill the .com.au criteria to get those "geographical" .com.au domains also.
