it can confuse consumers , for example someone registring with click'n'go
will access the whois info and see that the domain name is registered with
<insert click'n'go registrar(s) here> , not with click'n'go.

Just a thought, nothing major..

Hey Kim, just a quickie.

Don't you think that in the whois info having the registrar displayed is
confusing, especially the ones going through resellers ( and since there are
lots of resellers, there are lots of domain names ) ?

Thanx

Quoting Chris Berkeley on Tuesday August 13, 2002:
|
| Doesn't this beg the question: why did auDA bother with having registrars?
At the
| moment the average domain buyer has up to four shysters taking a clip -
auDA,
| AusRegistry, Registrars, and Resellers. Would it not have been more
efficient to have
| eliminated the Registrars at least?

Well, I don't know if you want a serious answer if you think everyone is
a shyster...

Anyway. auDA did not decide to have registrars. It held an open
Competition Policy Development Panel which accepted submissions from
anyone interested, and based on submissions developed a model that
was most desirable.

There are really only three parties. If you choose to use a Reseller
instead of going direct, that's your own fault. There will also be
people reselling products no matter what it is.
