Court orders ICANN to open books
A California judge has ordered the Internet's governing body to open
its books for inspection.
A state judge in Los Angeles on Monday lifted the veil of secrecy
that has surrounded many of the group's internal deliberations for
the last four years, dealing an embarrassing setback to the Internet
Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN).

Domain name disputes taken into national courts
Disquiet over the domain registration dispute process involving .biz
domains has led to court action on both sides of the Atlantic.
UK domain name registrar Internetters has launched High Court
proceedings to halt the transfer of 'domainregistry.biz' to US
company, DomainRegistry.com Inc.
Internetters is going to the High Court in an attempt to reverse a
decision by the ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and
Numbers)-appointed, National Arbitration Forum (NAF), which would
strip it of a domain which it is using in its business.

Dot-Org Decision Looms Large For Noncommercial Speakers
In the Internet atlas, "dot-org" shows up as a stuffy university town
on the outskirts of the commerce-steeped "dot-com" Mecca. But as the
only place on the Internet devoted to noncommercial speech, dot-org
is indispensable to consumer advocates, public interest groups and
political dissidents, many of whom are watching closely to see who
will be chosen to take the helm of the domain when the current
registry operator gives up its role later this year.

Master of Your Web Domain
Getting a domain name -- a personalized Internet address -- is now
cheap and easy. That's good, considering how many Internet providers
have gone under or switched subscribers' e-mail addresseses; a
personal domain name means you should never have to send out those
"change of address" e-mails anymore.
