Hello all, Some observations on your posting Jo: 1. The Competition Panels recommendations were exactly that - recommendations. There is no onus on auDA to place a charge on non-commercial 2LD's other than for the purpose of achieving cost recovery (although subsidisation from commercial 2LD's is also clearly an option for auDA here). Would it be possible for you to forward to the list a summary of auDA's costs with respect to non-commercial 2LD's? 2. The fact that some holders of .asn.au have commercial interests is not an argument to deliberately prejudice those who do not - nor is it fair to suggest that because some are breaking the rules, that others should pay. By your comment of 'overwhelming feedback', I am assuming that you have conducted a survey of NFP's where this question was asked? - What were the results of this and how many NFP's did you survey? - I know of may NFP's who have not been approached re this matter. 3. Considering that every hospital in Australia is supplied with blood by volunteers, that 95% of our continent is protected from fires by volunteers, and that we managed to run the Olympic Games with a mostly volunteer workforce, I do not think that volunteerism is a threat to community protection - in fact if we were to use the recent events reported on this very list as a guide, you must agree that commercialisation has far higher inherent threats than any posed by a volunteer workforce - however yes, volunteers should work under proper guidelines and management processes to ensure community services are properly delivered - however this is not something that's difficult to establish or maintain - and the offers are on the table.
