NAIS RELEASES ICANN REFORM STUDY The NGO and Academic ICANN Study (NAIS) has released its final report on reforming ICANN. The report calls for an open at-large membership with strong participation in policy matters and representation on the ICANN board equal to the total number of directors selected by Supporting Organizations. The "whois" lookup service has always let Internet users investigate who owns an Internet domain -- the dot-com moniker (or .org., .net, .edu or whatever) at the end of an Internet address -- but it's often slow and confusing to use. Whonami (http://www.whonami.com) digs into the same database as other whois sites, but works faster and simpler. Enter a domain name without any prefixes such as "www," and the site returns the usual details -- contact info for its owner, along with brief info about the domain's Internet providers. Or enter a term by itself, without any three- or two-letter extension, to see who owns associated domains in dozens of different commercial and country-specific registries, from Ascension Island (.ac) to South Africa (.za). http://www.whonami.com/ ===== David Goldstein email: Goldstein_David§yahoo.com.au phone: +61 418 228 605 (mobile) http://travel.yahoo.com.au - Yahoo!
