APNIC is organising a conference track for APRICOT2001, featuring six SIGs. We are pleased to invite interested members of the Internet community to submit proposals for presentations in the following SIGs: - Address Policy (New Technologies) - Address Policy (Procedures) - IPv6 - Routing - Reverse DNS - Database and Certification Authority (DB&CA) Descriptions of these SIGs are listed below to guide you on the range of appropriate topics. You are also encouraged to refer to the minutes from the SIGs held during our previous meetings, available at: http://www.apnic.net/meetings/programme/minutes/ and http://www.apnic.net/amm2000/sigs.html ____________________________________________ HOW DO I GET INVOLVED? If you would like to present a topic at one of the upcoming SIGs, please send us a proposal. Your proposal should: - be related to the topics indicated below - be less than 1000 words long - describe your perspective on the topic including its pros/cons from various aspects - indicate the time required (in most cases there will be a time Limit of 15 minutes per presentation, not counting question time) Please send your proposal to <sig§apnic.net> by 19 January, 2001. You can subscribe to the SIG mailing lists using our new web interface at: http://www.apnic.net/lists/subscribe.html ____________________________________________ SUMMARIES OF SIG TOPICS SIG: ADDRESS POLICY (NEW TECHNOLOGIES) This SIG will focus on the address policy implications of technological innovations and developments in best practice. Major issues affecting the Asia Pacific Internet community include cable and ADSL deployments, GPRS infrastructure, and 3G mobile phone address requirements. SIG: ADDRESS POLICY (PROCEDURES) This SIG is forum for developing policies and procedures relating to the management and use of Internet address resources by APNIC, NIRs, and ISPs within the Asia Pacific region. This SIG will include topics such as assignment and allocation criteria, confederations, and request evaluation principles. SIG: IPv6 This SIG will review the status of IPv6 implementations around the region and raise various issues relating to IPV6, including its relevance to today's Asia Pacific Internet environment, hardware and software developments, operational experiences, IPv6 routing and multihoming issues, and deployment plans. SIG: ROUTING This SIG will examine important issues of Internet routing and policy in this region and globally, such as Internet routing table growth, de-aggregation of provider blocks, routing stability and flap damping, best configuration practices for ISPs, Internet exchange points, and the Internet Routing Registry. SIG: REVERSE DNS This SIG will examine developments in policies and procedures for reverse DNS operations in the Asia Pacific region. It will include topics such as reverse delegations for IPv6 networks, dynamic updates, secure DNS, and legacy transfers from other databases. SIG: DATABASE AND CERTIFICATION AUTHORITY (DB&CA) This SIG will examine developments in the operation of APNIC's Whois database and discuss related policy issues affecting registration practices and database security. It will include topics such as the handling of private information in the APNIC database and will provide an update on the APNIC Certificate Authority trials that are currently underway.
