> http://www.it.fairfax.com.au/industry/19991019/A58685-1999Oct15.html I am usually a great fan of Jenny's work, but it's all a bit too one-sided for me. Some of us fully support Mr Elz retaining control of .AU until AuDA is fully formed and can demonstrate that the process will be orderly and stable. We remember that this isn't the first time Melbourne IT has made such demands, and recall with relief that Mr Elz didn't assign .AU to ADNA when they were criticising him in a similar fashion. I feel that Jenny should have pursued the auction comment: wouldn't that worsen "cyber-squatting", doesn't it favour early adopters of the Internet? And how about a quote from a consumer affairs organisation concerning the desirability of the domain name having a strong resemblance to the trading name of a company? Jenny should also have questioned the move of Dr Roberts from NOIE to Melbourne IT. These staff movements are common in cases of "client capture" of a government regulator, and Jenny should have asked if that was the case here?
