>US Congress, ICANN and WIPO appear to have a problem >with FCFS (though not with generic names). Well, to be more accurate, 'WIPO has a problem with FCFS'. WIPO then pushes the issue with US Congress and ICANN. The facts of the matter are that trademark holders are trying to get more control of the DNS system than they have in the rest of the world - ie, they want to get absolute control over the DNS, even though they do not have absolute control over names outside of the DNS. But, as you rightly point out, this is a separate issue from generic names, Regards, Mark Mark Hughes Director Effective Business Applications Pty Ltd effectivebusiness§pplications.com.au 61 4 1374 3959Received on Thu Jul 08 1999 - 00:23:24 UTC
