I had a look at going, all the details of the meeting and associated convention are on the ISOC web site. A few names from the EFA types were there as well as NIOE listed as speakers and presenters. > >Will it be broadcast via a multicast feed of some sort? A lot more info can be had from the Website. There are also the links for the real and streaming media. > >Does this group need a physical/visual/voice conference to come to >firm conclusions? I dont think this group has fully begun to answer any of the issues yet. They have been raised several times and in various formats but little work is actually being done on them via this list. Perhaps the NOIE sponsored (and moderated) face to face would get the ball rolling a bit. I had hoped that the early focus of the list would continue to a point where our own common technologies would suffice to begin a decision making process. So far the focus on the identifying the problems is drifting from the generic to specifics with the associated clashes. A drift to working groups on questions or topics has not occured. The listserv remains as mass confusion of ideas and self interests. I still however remain hopeful that an inclusive and thoughtful process may devolve from the discussions on the listserv. A few meetings with NOIE and "stakeholders" is only a partial answer. A dynamic system must be created where the ongoing problems can have due consideration and thought applied to them. No matter who is invited to the NOIE forum there will be complaints about non inclusion etc. ron Ron Ipsen, Managing Director, Gippsland Internet Pty Ltd Ph: 61 3 51 276543 Fax: 61 3 51 262020 http://www.comu.net.au - Gippslands Community Network http://www.gips.com.au - bringing Gippsland business online. http://www.amputee.org - amputees working together.Received on Wed Jul 22 1998 - 13:53:53 UTC
