A number of ccTLDs have been created (note not delegated, created) in the last 12 months and added to the Legacy Root Zone. >They were all created at the same time, except the few extra that have been >added by the ISO people since as part of revisions of 3166. Hmmm, there is some question about some of the ccTLD's. Last time I check three of the ccTLDs were actually part of the Australian ISO code, but somehow managed to have their own. When looking at the ISO list, these codes don't exist. At least not on any copy of ISO 3166 I have been able to obtain. Mabye the ISO 3166 V Y2K is yet to be released and some people have advanced infromation? >Back then, no-one was even considering charging for domain names. Yes, this is true. >A (small minority) of the more exotic country domains may have been delegated >as a response to charging, and NSI's policies, (though I wouldn't say as a >way around the fee). "response to charging" you mean as a way to make profit.Received on Mon Jun 22 1998 - 09:39:40 UTC
