Please find attached (in RTF) the Minutes of last week's ADNA Board Meeting in Sydney. As usual, I have provided a summary of the Action Points at the end. The Minutes contain a Timetable for future events, including the Trade Marks Office/ADNA seminar 9.00am to 12.30 pm, on 27 November in Melbourne (at 207 Bouverie St, Theatre 1 in Basement 1) and repeated on 28 November in Sydney (c/- Phillips Fox, 255 Elizabeth St). This seminar, organised and chaired by the Australian Trade Marks Commissioner Mr Ross Wilson, is designed to test public reaction to the proposed introduction of (1) a tm.au domain restricted to names already registered as Australian trademarks, and (2) a pr.au domain (with no naming policy restrictions) for potential or existing products or services offered in Australia. If the public response is sufficiently favorable, ADNA will then seek the .au Administrator (Robert Elz)'s approval to proceed with their early implementation. The ADNA Board will aim to finalise the Policies and Registrar Selection Criteria for tm.au and pr.au at its next Board Meeting in Melbourne on 28 January 1998, and authorise advertising for applications for Registrars of the new 2LDs (with a 60 day response period, including public comment on the Policies). ADNA's solicitors (Phillips Fox) will be used to provide preliminary vetting of applications, based on very similar objective criteria to those used for vetting the internatioanl gTLD registrars. An independent ADNA Board Committee will be established to make final recommendations on the successful applications to the Board meeting in April 1998.
